Change name server (DNS) Print

By purchasing a domain / domain name, you become the owner of the right to use a domain name. With the right to use a domain name, the owner can manage the domain itself or the owner can assign a reseller the right to manage the domain on behalf of the owner. When a domain is transferred to a reseller, this reseller can therefore manage your domain and the reseller can also offer self-service solutions for the management. Read here more about how a domain / domain name is managed.

The name server (DNS) manages a domain name's services on the Internet, such as where to send the domain name's mail and where to find the domain name's website. All this is set in the name server via Setting up DNS records. If a domain name has one or more services at Skymotor, it is advantageous to also use Skymotor's name server, which is already set up correctly for the domain name. To use the Skymotor nameserver, your domain name must refer to the Skymotor nameserver:

  • ns1.skymotor.dk
  • ns2.skymotor.dk

Change your name server at Skymotor

If your domain name has been transferred to Skymotor, the domain's associated nameserver can be set from your customer portal:

  1. Log in to your account in the Skymotor customer portal
  2. Select your domain.
  3. Click 'Manage name server'.
  4. Specify your domain's chosen nameserver.

Change name server with 3rd party registrar

If you use a registrar other than Skymotor, your domain name's nameserver is changed from that registrar:

  1. Log in to the registrar's self-service or contact the registrar's support.
  2. Manage your domain name andchange the name server.
  3. Specify the domain's selected nameserver.

Follow the instructions of your domain registrar.

Change name server with registrar

If you do not use a registrar for your domain, you can always manage your domain through its registrar, as all domains are controlled by a top level domain (TLD) registrar:

  1. Log in to the registrar's self-service or contact the registrar's support.
For .dk domain names log on to DK Hostmaster self-service https://selvbetjening.dk-hostmaster.dk/.
  2. Manage your domain name andchange the name server.
  3. Specify the domain's chosen nameserver.

Follow the instructions of your domain registrar.
